"Story of my life" by One Direction: ACCEPTABLE.

Hello, beautiful people!

I hope you are doing great today! I came back (as I promised) to write about one of the most famous boy bands right now: One Direction.

It might not be your favorite band or well, you might be crazy about all of them. I'm not a big fan but I like them and some of their songs, plus someone asked me to do this analyzes. So, here we go:

First of all I have to talk about the song; it is not my favorite. I think this song was picked because it stays in your head. You get attached to the melody even though the lyrics are not great. Fans might get caught by the lyrics because they love the boys too much or some people might see their life in those lyrics, but I can assure you that mostly the song is only a good piece of marketing. The guys' voices can do much better but they didn't plus the arrangements around them are really simple musically speaking.

Now, when we get to see the video we might get caught by the main topic of the lyrics and the concept of everyone in the video trying to reflect their story, the story of their lives. So the concept is okay. You can picture all of them in a world full of memories:

They are using the main idea and that is what makes this video kind of cute and special. I actually loved the fact that they used their own old pictures and invited their families to help them make the video. I'm sure that this was a huge punch right in the heart to all of their fans:

I mean, look at that little Zayn with his sister:

And that Harry's mother smile:

They know how to work with their fandom and what do they like to see; them being perfect and having stories just like everyone else's:

But, if we get to the technic part, mainly speaking of photography, we can see that this video is just made by good feelings. Their photographer is bad. I mean, like I've posted before one of the main things a photographer and a director must check is not cutting people:

If we compare these scenes to Within Temptation's movements, we can see that One Direction's video isn't exactly experimental nor faster than fast to make this kind of things happen occasionally. It is not about the concept or the idea, it is just a mistake:

The photographer didn't calculate how or where they were going to move or sing:

Added to these things, we have the fact that they didn't play with the colors, their clothes (but their flashbacks' clothing) or anything at all. But well, I liked their only effect around the presentation of the title:

I found this video in the acceptable term because the concept saves the photography mistakes a little bit and it is simple made so it shows very simple things.

That is all I have to say about this video, if you see something else or want to tell me something... The comments might help.

Thanks for reading, see you next time!

"Paradise (What about us?)" by Within Temptation ft. Tarja: GOOD!

Welcome to this weird blog (again), beautiful people!

A few days ago my brother showed me one of his favorite videos and well I decided it was perfect for me to write about it because Within Temptation isn't my favorite band but it surely is on my music library and even though this video is almost a year old, I had never watched it until last week.

If you are not a fan of this band already, I recommend you to watch this video and fall in love with their voices. Here we go:

First of all, I love the fact that the lyrics are clear but not so obvious. We know they are talking about war because of the "peace" thing in the lyrics and with the video we get the fact that the war is not just about weapons and deaths. We can see a soldier traveling and fighting for whatever is her mission and you must know that every single part of the soldier at the beginning is showing us danger and desperation by the colors the photographer uses. Again we see orange and red all over the place:

When we change the perspective to the band singing we can see the colors are different, a bit colder and it is full of light flashes that makes us look at it as something more exciting:

Now, one of the most amazing things about this video is the movement the director manage here. When we get to see the soldier there is absolutely no movement of the camera; we are super steady:

Compare that to the clips we are watching when it comes to the band. The camera never stops moving:

I don't particularly like it because we got the public getting dizzy and some things won't look so good just like this one (half heads and arms):

But I must say that when the difference of movement is this hard between one clip and another it makes the video a master piece. Every move has something to do with the story and that is really easy to catch when you look at the beginning and at the end really close. At first the camera is moving so much, but when the soldier gets to her place and develops what she was meant to do, the band also gets a bit of stability:

And after everything we can see the main singers around green and with beautiful dresses. In this case we think of green as pure life and with that you get the end of the story, a beautiful life full of peace:

I actually got these crucial points really easy because the video is pretty clear. Within Temptation made a good to the earth by making their video about what the song was about and showed us what they really meant by sending a soldier to get through the desert.

This post might seem a bit simple but the truth is the video was a simple but a good one. It made me think and work harder to make the gifs and show you what I meant by movement and the pros and cons of it.

Well... I hope you come back for my next post, it will be about "Story of my life" by One Direction because a friend of mine asked me to. I got some things to say already but I'll wait until next time.

"I Knew You Were Trouble" by Taylor Swift: BRILLIANT!!!

Hello beautiful people! Once again, welcome! I'm hoping you are liking what I'm posting and I hope you tell your friends about this blog and follow it...

Well, today I'm actually really excited about this post because I got the opportunity to write and say everything I liked about Taylor Swift's video (I think this post will be a little bit longer than the others). I'm a super fan of hers to be honest, but I swear I don't think her videos are always good. In this case I chose one from her most recent album (RED) because this video is RAD

I actually didn't completely get the song until I saw the video. Her lyrics talk about someone who she falls in love with but he wasn't never really that into her, or at least that was I understood when I first heard the song, after seeing the video... Well, let's watch it and you'll get me:

Okay... In this case the video is the catch, or at least it seemed like that to me because everything in this video is PERFECT. Let's start with the photography:

I loved the fact that the video is made with a panoramic format. The scene seems long but not so tall which I must say is kind of difficult to work with because everything is about editing and at the time you are filming it, you must be super careful about what you are planning to cut. But well... Taking the basic stuff I said in my past post, Taylor is always in the right place:

It seems like the photographer is pretty good because even when she or anyone in the video is in movement, the camera moves along with them and make them still be in the place they need to be:

If you watch the video really carefully you'll notice that the shades of colors change according to what happens. The director knows how to pick the colors and use them to create a story too. When she first meets him everything is clear, normal...

And when they start to get closer the video turns a bit different. It starts getting a bit darker but with a super BIT of rays of orange:

She talks about "blew me to places I've never been", like saying he took her to another level and that's when we begin to see that the orange turns to RED because their relationship is going somewhere between passion and love:

But it also turns RED when they are getting too close to danger:

I do want to say she is a great actress too. You believe her desperation and pain:

The theory of the RED scenes is just like the metaphor she uses by the lightbulb. Everything was burning so bright that it might cause pain:

Just as she feels like losing him, everything starts to get colder, so they use blue:

And she starts to fall:

It gets darker for her:

But clearer when it comes to him:

And as she starts losing HERSELF it gets darker and even more RED:

Until she is completely lost and on the ground:

One thing that they got super right is that you don't need to watch the whole video to notice this.

At the beginning she is lost in the middle of nowhere knowing what happened but she is still confused, so the scenes aren't fully blue nor fully orange/red:

The flashbacks are in shades of blue, gray and turning darker because that was the way their relationship went:

I also want to mention the makeup and hair design. It is brilliant because even there you can notice how much she changed because of him.

She begins with cute shirts and her hair completely clean:

She ends up with lots of makeup in her eyes, the tips of her hair in a shade of pink and wearing his clothes:

People normally don't like this kind of mainstream videos because they think it is just about the fame of the artist and not his/her work. Let me tell you this video proved most of them wrong because even though Taylor Swift is the most public girl in the business, she showed us a great job in here full of experiences and the typical bad boy trouble we all have at some point in our lives.

I really don't get why this video didn't win as much awards as her past videos. This one is way better than the others.

Oh, BTW! The guy in the video is Reeve Carney and I should tell you he has a band too and he is really good. You should give him a try.

Anyway... This is all for today, loves. I hope you didn't find it boring, too long or so obvious. Leave a comment telling me about YOUR opinion and observations. And please, suggest me videos to talk about.
